On 6 November 2021, at the 32nd Congress of the German Continence Society, Dr Pakravan presented his latest findings on the surgical treatment of faecal incontinence, "Ventral Pelvioanal Reconstruction (VPAR)".

International Webinar Congresses in Iran

Dr Pakravan took part in two international webinar congresses in Iran: on the treatment of faecal incontinence through sacral nerve stimulation, and on diseases induced by human papillomavirus (HPV) in anal intraepithelial neoplasia.

USA Cleveland & Munich

In 2019, Dr Pakravan attended the German Coloproctology Congress on three occasions together with his former colleagues from the CPZ Düsseldorf. In the USA, in Cleveland, he took part in the international ASCRS congress with 2 poster presentations.

6th Symposium "Innovations in Coloproctology" 2018, Berlin

At the international symposium at the Waldfriede Hospital in Berlin, Dr Pakravan presented his own self-developed surgical technique, Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy, as a video lecture.

IX International Coloproctology Symposium

On 3 February 2018, the IX International Coloproctology Symposium took place at the Steigenberger Parkhotel Düsseldorf, hosted by Dr Pakravan and his former practice team. At the invitation of Chairman Dr Bernhard Liedl, Dr Pakravan was represented at the ISPP congress with a lecture on the use and implantation of the artificial anal sphincter, Acticon Neosphincter. In addition, a cadaver workshop on the same topic was held under the moderation of Dr Pakravan.

At the invitation of Professor David Jayne, Dr Pakravan presented the German experience and results on the implantation of the magnetic anal sphincter, Fenix MSA, at the Royal College of Surgeons, London.

19.06.2014 – 20.06.2014, Innovations in Coloproctology, 4th Live Surgery and Symposium, Berlin

At the invitation of Chairman Dr Roland Scherer, Dr Pakravan performed the implantation of a magnetic anal sphincter, Fenix MSA, as part of the live surgery sessions.

5 June 2014, DKG Cancer Society Certificate

On 5 June 2014, the former joint practice of Dr Pakravan underwent recertification as a cooperation partner of the Bowel Cancer Centre, EVK Düsseldorf, including a practice inspection. In their assessment, the auditors highlighted the CPZ, founded by Dr Pakravan, for its outstanding facilities and exceptional proctological expertise.

At the 39th German Coloproctology Congress, Dr Pakravan gave a lecture on the topic "Is the Newly Developed Magnetic Anal Sphincter an Alternative for the Treatment of Severe Faecal Incontinence? Initial Experience After 18 Implantations". In addition, two poster presentations were given on the topics: "Initial Results of the Pelvic Organ Prolapse Suspension Operation (P.O.P.S.) in Pronounced Descensus Perinei and Outlet Constipation" and "Conservative Treatment of Haemorrhoidal Disease".

23 February 2013, VII International Coloproctology Symposium

On 23 February 2013, the VII International Coloproctology Symposium took place under the theme: "Prevention of Complications in Coloproctological Surgery". Once again, Dr Pakravan and his former colleague were able to secure internationally renowned speakers for the symposium.

28 November 2012, DKG Cancer Society Certificate

Dr Pakravan and the CPZ Düsseldorf, which he founded, have been recognised and certified by the German Cancer Society as a cooperation partner of the Bowel Cancer Centre, EVK Düsseldorf, for the treatment of bowel cancer patients since December 2011.

As part of a lecture, Dr Pakravan presented the 5-year results of Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy. In addition, three poster presentations were given:

• Is the invasive treatment of patients with severe fecal incontinence using the Artificial Bowel Sphincter (ABS) adequate?
• Evaluating the short term results of the use of bioasorbable fistula plug for management of anal fistulas.
• Results of perineal stapled rectal resection for full-thickness rectal prolapse using the contour transtar stapler.

In addition, as part of a dinner symposium, Dr Pakravan presented his own results on the surgical treatment of severe faecal incontinence using the Artificial Bowel Sphincter.

Dr Pakravan was represented at the Annual Meeting of the German Continence Society in Mainz. His own results on the prevalence of faecal incontinence and the various treatment options were presented.

Current and innovative surgical methods for various coloproctological conditions were presented. Dr Pakravan presented his own self-developed surgical method, Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy. This technique was demonstrated as part of a live surgery.

Following on from 2009, Dr Pakravan and his former colleague were once again represented with a lecture on the conservative treatment of haemorrhoidal disease at the international congress of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. The results were presented in cooperation with Professor Herand Abcarian, University of Chicago, USA.

On 5 February 2010, Dr Pakravan was invited to the 13th Symposium of the "Formation Postgraduée de L'Unité de Proctologie" in Geneva, Switzerland, to give the following lecture: "Bioprosthetic Anal Fistula Plug (AFP) for the Treatment of Anal Fistula".

23–26 September 2009, IV Annual Meeting of the European Society of Coloproctology

Dr Pakravan attended the IV Annual Meeting of the European Society of Coloproctology from 23 to 26 September 2009.

26 June 2009, Workshop on the Surgical Treatment of Faecal Incontinence Using an Artificial Bowel Sphincter and Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNS)

Due to the strong response, a further workshop on the surgical treatment of faecal incontinence was held on 26 June 2009. The event took place in cooperation with the Surgical Department of the Evangelische Kliniken Essen-Mitte, headed by Professor Walz.

In March 2009, in cooperation with Maastricht University Hospital and Professor Baeten, the results of the Transanal Haemorrhoidopexy technique developed by Dr Pakravan were published in the renowned American journal "Diseases of the Colon and Rectum".

02.05.2009 – 06.05.2009, ASCRS 2009 Annual Meeting, Hollywood, Florida, USA

The results of Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy were presented in cooperation with Professor Baeten and Dr Govaert, Maastricht University Hospital, the Netherlands, at this year's international congress of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

12–15 March 2009, 35th German Coloproctology Congress

Dr Pakravan and his former colleague were represented at the congress with two poster presentations on the topics "Surgical Treatment of Rectal Prolapse According to Rehn-Delorme" and "Treatment of Faecal Incontinence – Results of Surgical Treatment".

14 February 2009, International Symposium on Haemorrhoids, Rectal Mucosal Prolapse, Rectal Prolapse – Do We Really Know It All Already?

The IV International Coloproctology Symposium, held this year at the Haus der Ärzteschaft, also met with a strong response. In total, more than 150 participants attended the lectures given by internationally renowned speakers. In particular, the opening lecture by Professor Stelzner on the topic "What Holds the Pelvic Organs in Place? – New Insights into the Anatomy and Function of the Continence Organ" sparked a lively discussion.

In light of Professor Stelzner's lecture, the aim across the various conditions and surgical procedures presented should be to preserve tissue, particularly the distal portions of the cloacogenic organ – in other words, destructive procedures should be avoided. Reconstruction with preservation of the important sensory components should be the goal of all surgical procedures.

With this in mind, the results of Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy – developed by Dr Pakravan and carried out in cooperation with his former joint practice in Düsseldorf and Professor Baeten of Maastricht University Hospital, the Netherlands – were presented. The lecture generated considerable interest and was well received by congress participants. We hope that this surgical method will continue to be evaluated at multiple centres in the future as part of a multicentre study.

24–27 September 2008, The European Society of Coloproctology, Nantes, France

At the III Annual Meeting of the European Society of Coloproctology in Nantes, Dr Pakravan gave a lecture on Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy. The results obtained to date were presented in cooperation with Professor Baeten of Maastricht University Hospital, the Netherlands.

19 July 2008, New Centre of Excellence for Patients with Bowel Conditions

The Kaiserswerther Florence-Nightingale-Krankenhaus, Düsseldorf, in cooperation with the former joint practice of Dr Pakravan and Dr Helmes, along with other practising coloproctologists in Düsseldorf, was certified as the first Centre of Excellence for patients with bowel conditions. In addition to above-average specialist expertise, a minimum number of coloproctological operations carried out by the cooperation partners is required.

25 April 2008, Workshop on Current Surgical Treatment of Faecal Incontinence

The former joint practice of Dr Pakravan, together with Professor P. Lehur of Nantes, France, held a workshop on the current surgical treatment of faecal incontinence. The workshop took place at the Florence-Nightingale-Krankenhaus Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth in cooperation with the Surgical Department, headed by Professor K. H. Schultheis.

6 March 2008, 34th German Coloproctology Congress

At the 34th German Coloproctology Congress, Dr Pakravan gave a lecture on his own self-developed Transanal Open Haemorrhoidopexy technique. The lecture generated considerable interest, even in Munich itself. A request from the journal "Coloproctology" followed shortly after the congress.

Dr Helmes, his former practice colleague, was represented on behalf of the practice with a poster presentation on the treatment of perianal thrombosis.

3 November 2007, International Symposium on Anal Fistula Disease

Once again, Dr Pakravan and his former colleague were able to secure internationally renowned speakers for the symposium. As in 2006, our Mayor, Mrs Hock, opened the congress before more than 160 participants from across Germany.

2 June 2007, Lecture on Fistula Therapy in Crohn's Disease

On 2 June 2007, Dr Pakravan gave a lecture on the surgical treatment of fistulas in Crohn's disease at the Florence-Nightingale-Krankenhaus of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie.

14.09.2006, ESCP – European Society of Coloproctology, 1st Scientific and Annual General Meeting

18 February 2006, Symposium

In February 2006, Dr Pakravan successfully held an international symposium focusing on coloproctology, entitled "Pelvic Floor Disorders – Update". Speakers from Europe and the USA reported on current developments in their respective fields. More than 150 participants from across Germany attended the conference with great interest.
